Cricket's Three Formats and Popular Tournaments

To understand cricket betting, you first need to understand the formats, because the pace of the game and how the markets work differ across each one.

T20 is the fastest format — each team plays just 20 overs. A match usually finishes within three to three and a half hours, making live betting very active. BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) and IPL (Indian Premier League) are played in this format, and these two tournaments attract the most interest from Bangladeshi fans. Betting markets are equally active during the ICC T20 World Cup.

ODI (One Day International) format is played over 50 overs per side. With the match running all day, odds fluctuate many times. Bangladesh Tigers ODI series receive particular attention in Bangladesh.

Test cricket lasts up to five days. A draw is a valid result here, so markets offer three options — Team A wins, Team B wins, or draw. Pitch conditions, weather and fifth-day play give Test betting its own distinct dimension.

baji light also offers betting on the ICC Champions Trophy, the World Test Championship and bilateral series.

BPL and IPL

The two most popular T20 leagues in Bangladesh and India. BPL markets are built around local team performances, while IPL markets focus on world-class players.

International Cricket

ICC tournaments, bilateral series and the Test Championship — baji light has betting markets for all major international cricket events.

Football and Other Sports Betting

baji light Sports Betting Match Odds

Alongside cricket, baji light also offers football betting. Football matches run for 90 minutes and the score can change at any moment — a different experience from the gradual build of pressure in cricket.

One big difference in betting across sports is match length — a T20 ends in three hours, but a Test runs over five days. Football has two halves of 90 minutes, so markets and live odds work differently. In cricket, a falling wicket or a big over directly affects the odds, while in football a goal or a red card can change the situation in an instant.

baji light also offers tennis betting — markets are available across various tournaments from the Grand Slams to the ATP Tour. Set-by-set betting makes tennis just as suited to live betting as cricket.

If you are looking for a different kind of game, the Hi-Lo card game is a completely different experience from sports betting, but available on baji light with the same ease.

Popular Cricket Betting Markets

Match Winner

Who will win — Team A or Team B? The simplest and most widely used market. T20 and ODI offer two options; Test offers three.

Popular Market

Toss Winner

You can bet on the toss result before the match begins. The outcome is a straight fifty-fifty, so odds are roughly even.

Pre-Match Market

Top Batsman

Which batsman will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match? Depending on the team, this market usually includes several names.

Innings Market

Total Runs Over/Under

Will a specific number of runs be exceeded or not — that is the over/under market. For example: "Will Team A score more than 165 runs in the first innings?" You bet on that kind of question.

Total Runs Market

Multi bet

Results from multiple matches are combined into a single bet. If all selections are correct the return is much higher, but one wrong selection and the entire bet is lost.

Combo Market

Handicap and Man of the Match

In a handicap market, the weaker team is given a run or wicket advantage. In the Man of the Match market, you pick the standout performer across the whole game.

How to Read Odds

baji light Odds Formats and Betting Guide

Betting sites usually display odds in three formats: decimal, fractional and American. All three carry the same information — just presented differently.

Example 1 — The same odds in three formats (bet on Team A to win, stake ৳200)

Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125. If Team A wins, you get back ৳450 (৳250 profit + original ৳200 stake). If Team A loses, you lose ৳200.

Example 2 — Favourite's odds (bet on Team B to win, stake ৳200)

Decimal 1.80 = Fractional 4/5 = American -125. American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100. If Team B wins, a ৳200 stake returns a total of ৳360 (৳160 profit).

In decimal format, the higher the number, the lower the chance of winning but the greater the return if you do win. Odds of 1.45 mean that team is the favourite — higher chance of winning but lower profit.

Live In-Play Betting — Odds Change During the Match

Live betting adds another dimension to cricket. The odds that were in place before the match start shift instantly when a wicket falls or a big over is bowled.

When a Wicket Falls

When a key batsman is dismissed, the batting team's odds to win increase — meaning a higher return if you back them, but also higher risk.

Runs in a Big Over

If 15–20 runs come off one over, the run rate climbs and the over/under market odds adjust quickly.

The Final Overs

Odds move the most during the last five overs of a T20. If a big hit looks likely in the death overs, the market reflects that.

In the Second Innings

The chase target and remaining wickets constantly create new situations for live odds in the second innings.

Some Practical Points on Cricket Betting

Betting is a form of entertainment. Playing responsibly means setting your own limits and not going beyond your budget.

  • Understand the format before you bet. Markets and the pace of odds move differently across T20, ODI and Test. New bettors who start with T20 will find it easier to follow how a match unfolds.
  • Don't put your whole budget on one bet. Multi bets offer the chance of a higher return, but one wrong selection and the entire bet is gone. Placing smaller individual bets separately reduces the risk.
  • Pick one odds format and stick with it. Decimal, fractional and American all give you the same information. Use whichever one you find easiest to read.
  • Live betting rewards patience. In-play, avoid rushing into a bet — wait for the situation to settle a little before making a decision.
  • Read the responsible gaming guidelines. baji light's responsible gaming page has useful advice on setting limits and taking breaks.

Cricket Betting Common Questions

T20 generally has the most markets — match winner, toss, runs per over, innings total and live in-play all give you plenty of options. ODI also has solid market coverage. Test has fewer markets, but the five-day format offers more opportunities to bet across the game.

A multi bet combines several selections into one bet and multiplies the odds together. For example, three selections at 1.50, 1.60 and 1.90 give combined odds of 1.50 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.56 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳456 if all three are correct. But if even one selection is wrong, the entire ৳100 is lost.

In cricket, live odds shift fastest when a wicket falls, when a lot of runs are scored in a big over, and during the final five overs — especially in T20. In the second innings during a chase, every wicket and every over triggers an immediate market response.

Most bettors find decimal odds easier — total return = stake × decimal odds. For example, ৳200 × 2.25 = ৳450 total return. American odds (+/−) work differently: a plus (+) figure shows how much profit you make on a ৳100 bet, while a minus (−) figure shows how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit. Both carry the same information — just presented differently.

Both tournaments are played in T20 format, so the core markets — match winner, toss, total runs, top batsman — are the same. IPL may offer more market variety due to the presence of international players. BPL features a mix of local and overseas players.
